Second International Conference Child F/SL Learning, 26-28 September 2019

On 26-28 September 2019 the Department of English Language Teaching at the Institute of Modern Languages of Pedagogical University of Cracow headed by prof. Joanna Rokita-Jaśkow, organized the 2nd International Conference on Child Foreign/Second Language Learning devoted to the issue of teaching heterogeneous classes of young learners. The conference was attended by 88 people who delivered a total of 64 papers, presenting in various ways the challenges posed by the young learner’s individuality. The vast majority of guests came from abroad (56 people), representing as many as 4 continents. They came from such countries as: Spain (13), Croatia (6), Japan (4), Great Britain (4), France (3), Slovenia (3), Slovakia (2), Norway (4), Sweden (1 ), Ireland (2), Russia (2), Austria (2) Serbia (1), Italy (1), Czech Republic (2), Malta (2), South Africa (2), Greece (2). 32 people represented the most important universities from Poland.
Plenary lectures were given by eminent specialists from Poland and abroad and constituted an excellent prelude to the meeting. They were: prof. Jelena Mihaljević Djigunović from the University of Zagreb (Croatia), prof. Victoria Murphy from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), prof. Carmen Muñozfrom the University of Barcelona, as well as prof. Mirosław Pawlak from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, prof. Adriana Biedroń from the Pomeranian University in Słupsk, dr Dorota Campfield from the Educational Research Institute in Warsaw.

The participants and teachers could also attend three workshops prepared by Sylvie Doláková from Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic (“Teaching English to Dyslexic Children”“Using stories inn CLIL classes”) and Sabina Nowak from the Pedagogical University of Cracow (“CLIL in the young learner classroom”).
