City Game #NocAnglistów2025

Organised as part of the Night of Anglicists, the city game City Game Across Kraków: Mapping Tender Encounters offered a unique opportunity to explore Kraków through activities centred on mediation, dialogue, and tender encounters. Inspired by Deborah Jackson Taffa’s Whiskey Tender, the event honoured the stories and perspectives of Indigenous communities while encouraging participants to reflect on their own identity and cultural belonging.
Participants
The event brought together 21 students of English Philology from PANS in Nysa, representing the student research club Active Minds, and 15 ERASMUS+ students from UKEN. The game took place on 27 November 2025.
Course of the Game
Participants moved across Kraków, treating the city as a living map of intercultural stories. The route covered four symbolic locations:
– the Planty Park,
– the Vistula riverside,
– the Wawel Dragon,
– the Main Market Square.
At each stop, students completed short reflective tasks related to identity, geographical belonging, and their personal experience of place. Every location revealed another “chapter” of a shared narrative combining movement, storytelling, and emotional self-reflection.
Using Padlet and QR codes, both local and international participants co-created a digital map of Kraków’s tender encounters, visualising emotions, memories, and cultural intersections.
Engagement and Organisation
Despite challenging weather conditions, students displayed exceptional engagement, creativity, and openness to intercultural dialogue. The game was designed by Dr Sabina Nowak (UKEN), and the group from PANS was supervised by Mr Sebastian Zatylny.
Collaboration within the “One Book Project”
The visit of the second- and third-year English Philology students from PANS in Nysa to Kraków took place as part of ongoing cooperation with the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków within the international “One Book Project.” The city game served as the first stage of the programme and an introduction to further activities rooted in literature, narrative, and intercultural education.
