Volunteering in Lucknow, India

“Teaching with Purpose, Thriving with Impact: Empowering Educators, Elevating Youth”

Volunteering programme in Lucknow, India

3-7 November 2025

Dr Sabina A. Nowak has recently returned from a week of volunteering in Lucknow, India, as part of the Professors Without Borders (ProWiBo) programme for Nari Sewa Samiti – India. Together with her co-facilitator, Kritika Dhiwahar, she worked with teachers and students to strengthen educational practices, explore innovative teaching strategies, and support well-being across the school community.

Throughout the week, Dr Nowak led sessions on The Six Thinking Hats Method, Experiential-Based Learning, Visible Thinking and CLIL approaches, Inquiry Labs, and the PERMA Model of socio-emotional learning. The programme integrated project-based learning, service-learning, creativity, collaboration, and compassion-based education. Activities such as the Well-being wheel, inquiry labs, and gratitude-based interventions encouraged teachers to reflect on their values, design authentic learning experiences, and bring action into their classrooms.

The programme was funded by Professors Without Borders and Nari Sewa Samiti.
